On February 9-10, 2013, the King Hall Negotiations Team sent two teams to compete in the American Bar Association’s Regional Client Counseling Competition hosted by Southwestern Law School. This year’s competition topic was employment law. Students paired up in teams of two and each completed mock in-take interviews and legal counseling sessions with client actors who represented both employers and employees in various legal situations.
Allison Callaghan (’13) and Christina Ithurburn (’13) represented King Hall as one team in the competition, as did Laura Gallagher (’14) and Doug Bojack (’14). At the end of the first round, both teams advanced to semi-finals, with Team Callaghan & Ithurburn seeded first and Team Gallagher & Bojack seeded fourth. Team Gallagher & Bojack advanced to the final round that was held the following day. There, Team Gallagher & Bojack claimed First Place overall and will continue on to represent the 9th Region of the ABA in the national competition to be held in Texas this spring.
The Teams would like to thank the Deans and Faculty Advisor Professor Donna Shestowsky for their support. The Teams would also like to thank their student coaches, Saba Shatara ('13) and Leah White ('13). Finally, the Teams would like to thank the student volunteers who helped them prepare for their success.
