Please welcome our 2022-2023 Internal Competition Chairs, Carolyn Downs, Daniel On, and Ravi Prasad!

Carolyn Downs

This year, Carolyn is excited to not only run another half marathon, but take wine law and tour the UC Davis winery! Carolyn loves being able to find her “sea legs” (public speaking wise) in appellate advocacy. In addition to MCHB, Carolyn is involved in Law Review and is a TA for 1L courses. Last summer, Caroyln served as a clerk for the CA Court of Appeals, Second District in Los Angeles in their Appellate Law, Criminal, and Civil divisions.

Carolyn graduated from Boston University with her degree in Political Science and is originally from Huntington, Connecticut. Carolyn loves to run, read, do crossword puzzles, and bike in her free time. Fun fact: Carolyn is a certified Master Scuba Diver!

Daniel On

As Daniel enters his last year of law school, he’s excited about spending as much time with his friends as possible. His favorite things about appellate advocacy is simple: the people. Outside of MCHB, Daniel is a member of APALSA and FLSA. Last summer, Daniel worked in Hinshaw & Culbertson’s San Francisco office in their commercial litigation and insurance services department.

Daniel’s hometown is Los Angeles, CA and he is a double Aggie (woo!). He loves snobby moviegoing, gaming, lifting, and the NBA and NFL. Fun fact: Daniel was the president of the Armenian Club in high school!

Ravi Prasad

Ravi is super excited to collaborate with Carolyn and Daniel to run the Fall Competition for MCHB! A lot of effort was put into the newly annotated oral argument scoresheet, and he’s excited to see a new heightened standard of competitive equity and student accessibility at play. Ravi loves the opportunity to engage in both sides of a wide range of topics in appellate advocacy. Ravi also participates in the Trial Practice Honor Board and the Federalist Society. Last summer, Ravi worked at the Freedom Foundation, which primarily focused on First Amendment litigation.

Ravi received his degree in Political Science from the University of the Pacific. His hometowns are both Modesto, CA and Stockton, CA. Outside of law school, Ravi enjoys listening to metal music and watching professional wrestling. Fun fact: before law school, Ravi participated in competitive debate for 8 years!
