How to get involved

Trial Practice Honors Board Members:

  • The application to become a board member for the 2023-2024 school year will be available in Spring 2023.

Generally 

  • Board applications will be released in the Spring for the following year. The coaches and adjunct professors will have final say over board member positions.
  • Considerations for board positions include internal and external competition participation, Trial Advocacy class participation, and other contributions to further trial advocacy at King Hall. 
  • After board membership offers are extended and accpeted, the new board will meet to vote on specific positions.

Carr Competition: 

  • You must register for the Carr Competition by the deadline. Important dates and other information is available on the website under "Carr Competition" or on the Home page.
  • The Competition is open to all UC Davis law students. One (1) class credit will be given to second-year (2L) and third-year (3L) participants who comply with the regulations of the competition ONLY. First-year (1L) students may participate, but not for credit.

Cota Competition (best way for 1Ls to learn about TPHB)

  • Register for the competition by the deadline.
  • The Competition is open to all 1L students at UC Davis.

Outside Competitions:

  • Tryouts will be held every Fall Semester for law students interested in joining a mock trial team. Information about try-outs will be published on the website home page, on the TPHB bulletin board in King Hall, and on our Facebook page.

Scrimmage Teams:

  • The external competition teams look for volunteers to help prepare as they get closer to their competition date. The primary job of the members of the scrimmage teams is to serve as witnesses during practice. Team members will be required to show up at least once a week to practices.
