Board Members

The Entertainment and Sports Law Society Board is elected internally each spring semester. The board normally consists of a head chair, entertainment law chair, sports law chair, treasurer, secretary, marketing chair, and various at large members. New students who wish to join the board should get involved as much as possible, as the board is always seeking volunteers to help with events. If you want to participate in ESLS events, or wish to be considered in the board elections, please contact one of the current board members.

I grew up in a sports-crazed pocket of Cincinnati, Ohio and as long as I can remember, sports have played a day-to-day role in my life. I began writing on sports as an editor of my high school newspaper and I continued to cover sports as an undergraduate at Boston College. In Boston, I worked for where I covered BC's basketball, football, and hockey teams teams, as well as some of Boston's professional squads. I also worked for a wholesale beer distributorship in Ohio where I assisted in the company's marketing and sales relationship with local sports franchises including the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals. My lifelong support for these teams has often left me heartbroken, but continually hopeful for next year.

Sports have always played a monumental role in my life. As a broadcast journalism major at USC, I called Trojan football, basketball, baseball and soccer games on KXSC 1560AM, USC's student radio station. I also hosted "Conrad's Corner®," USC's only news radio talk show, where I had the invaluable opportunity to interview countless members of the Trojan Family and explore issues that impact college students across the nation.  Two of my biggest goals in life are to land a radio talk show on a nationally syndicated network and see the Dodgers win the World Series.

I grew up a couple blocks away from the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and in a small town with a big love for the arts, it's impossible to escape from the theatre bug. While I participated in competitive rowing form middle school through part of college, I would always run off to midnight tech-runs after practice. In college, my focus switched from behind the scenes to the business side of the arts. I worked on and off Broadway as well on the West End in operational and general management capacities. I developed a fascination for entertainment unions and contracts and wrote my thesis paper on union negotiations and their economic impact on Broadway.

Being from Southern California, I have always had an interest in the entertainment industry. I worked at an advertising and design company, 30Sixty Design, while in high school where I was able to see the production process for DVD products for films such as Titanic, Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. I continued my love for the entertainment industry at the University of California, Irvine where I majored in Film & Media Studies. I also have a sincere interest in sports law. I played fastpitch softball from age seven through the end of college. I hope to one day combine my love for both entertainment and sports into a dream career in the legal field.

Sammy Beatty grew up in Chandler, AZ and is an avid Phoenix Suns fan. Although this year she is pulling for the Lakers, so Nash can finally get a much deserved championship. She graduated from USC in 2010 with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in cinema-television. At USC, a class with Leonard Maltin made her fall even more in love with film. As a Trojan, she is also looking forward to USC's football season this year. This past summer she interned at the Freedom Writers Foundation in Long Beach, CA. At King Hall, she is a part of both the intramural soccer team and the new King Hall Tough Mudder group.

I love entertainment and sports. Prior to law school, I worked at an intellectual property law firm in San Diego. Our firm represented Zynga, makers of the popular games "FarmVille" and "Word With Friends," with regard to trademark and other matters. I am a big Real Madrid and San Diego Chargers fan. I also proudly hold the position of Fantasy Football Commissioner at the law school. This past summer, I interned at the Freedom Writers Foundation where I learned more about the entertainment industry.

Sports have always played an enormous role in my life both as an athlete and a fan. I grew up playing soccer, but I took up running cross country and track in middle school. In high school, I was honored with the athlete of the year award for being a three-sport athlete. In college, I ran track all four years and walked on the soccer team as a senior. My life long participation in sports has taught me many valuable lessons about dedication and hard work.
