Judge Hom was appointed to the Superior Court of California in 2002. He has been a member of the Court’s Working Group subcommittee of the State Bar Diversity Pipeline Committee, the Judicial Council of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association and a Judicial Master of the Anthony M. Kennedy Inn of Court, Advisory Board of the Asian Bar of California. He currently serves as the Chair of the Center of Judicial Education and Research, Criminal Curriculum Committee and on the faculty of the B.E. Witkin Judicial College. Prior to his appointment to the court, he was a member of the statewide Racial Profiling Curriculum Committee of the P.O.S.T, board member and legal counsel to the Sacramento Asian/Pacific Chamber of Commerce, the President of the Asian/Pacific Bar of Sacramento and the Chairperson of the Human Rights/Fair Housing Commission for the City and County of Sacramento. He is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley and Hastings College of the Law.
