ACLU at King Hall
About Us

Mission Statement

The American Civil Liberties Union is a national organization committed to the defense of civil liberties. Since 1920 the ACLU has consistently supported those people whose civil rights were threatened. The ACLU strives to ensure that the rights guaranteed by the Bill of Rights, including freedom of expression, freedom of the press, separation of church and state, equal protection, due process, and privacy are protected by all branches of government. Affiliated with the Yolo County ACLU, members of the King Hall Chapter are involved in ACLU activities at the school and local levels as well as the state level. The King Hall Chapter has assisted in research for civil rights cases handled by the Yolo County Chapter, organized educational seminars and speakers in a variety of civil liberties issues, and worked on civil rights campaigns for both the state and national ACLU affiliates. Current matters of particular concern include the death penalty, rights of the criminally accused and pro-choice issues. The King Hall Chapter co-sponsors the Human Rights Lecture Series.
