Karen Douglas Director,
California Climate Initiative at Environmental Defense
Karen Douglas is the director of the California Climate Initiative at Environmental Defense. She co-authored “Global Warming in the Golden State”, an Environmental Defense publication on the likely effects on global warming in California, and led Environmental Defense’s efforts to pass AB 32, the Global Warming Solutions Act, in California. Prior to going to Environmental Defense, Karen spent four years at the Planning and Conservation League as the Natural Resources Director, General Counsel, and most recently, acting Executive Director. Karen has worked on a wide range of California natural resource and environmental protection issues, including the IID-San Diego water transfer, forest policy, and the California Environmental Quality Act. She graduated from Stanford Law School in 2001, and received a Masters degree in Public Policy from the University of Colorado, Boulder, in 1998.
