About Us

The UC Davis Law School Entertainment and Sports Law Society was formed in 2009 and the group has progressively grown since its inception into an excellent resource for law students interested in the entertainment and sports fields. Each year, ESLS hosts several exciting traditions including those listed below. If you would like more information about how to get involved with ESLS or have general questions about the organization, please contact one of the ESLS Board members. Our school's contact information can be found here.

Dr. Ives Memorial Basketball Tournament

For close to 45 years ESLS has hosted its signature Dr. Ives Tournament, most recently inside the UC Davis Pavilion. The event brings King Hall alumni, faculty and current students together to compete for the coveted championship.

Entertainment and Sports Law Culture Week

Each year ESLS dedicates a week to present prominent speakers currently practicing entertainment and sports law. Topics include sports labor union disputes, the proliferation of new media, the art of negotiation and much more!

The King Hall Tailgate

In years past, ESLS has hosted an annual tailgate early in the year to allow new and old students to become acquainted with both the ESLS officers as well as each other. The ESLS officers grill food, serve drinks and then walk to the lawn seating behind the end zone to watch Aggie football.
