Environmental Law Society members at the Yosemite Law Conference Saturday Night Party
Although I will generally jump at any excuse to head to Yosemite, the Environmental Law Conference at Yosemite is a particularly amazing opportunity. We were able not only to hike and site-see, but also to learn about pressing issues in environmental and natural resources law, and to meet leaders in law and government. Highlights included morning presentations by California Secretary for Environmental Protection Matt Rodriquez and California Secretary for Natural Resources John Laird. I especially enjoyed the panel discussions on the Clean Water Act at 40, nitrates contamination of underground sources of drinking water, and California's plan for adapting to a changing climate. King Hall's very own Professor Frank, along with Professor Leshy of UC Hastings and Professor Kaswan of USF, provided a great summary of recent environmental law developments in state and federal courts. Thank you to the Deans' Office and the State Bar of California's Environmental Law Section for making our attendance possible.

Attending the Yosemite Environmental Law Conference was the best decision I made 1L year! The conference itself was fun and interesting. I often found myself torn between which panels to attend. It was a great way to launch my legal education and remind myself of why I chose law school in the first place. Attending the conference also gave me the chance to meet 2Ls and 3Ls. Between attending the conference, hiking during our off time, and living together in a cabin for three days, I got to know some of the other students well. They were full of great advice, and it was nice to come back to school able to recognize a few more friendly faces.
