November 1: APALSA 2nd General Meeting

Please join us for our first lunch time speaker series. For this first event, we have local practitioners speaking to us about career opportunities after law school. Kara Ueda (KH class of 2000), is a partner at Best Best and Krieger and has experience working in government and private practice. Nirav Desai is a Judicial Law Clerk at U.S. District Court, Eastern District of California. We may have a 3rd speaker from the private sector (TBA). 

Come out and get your questions answered and take advantage of this great opportunity to meet attorneys with a great deal knowledge about the actual practice of law. 

Lunch provided.

October 27: Exigent Halloween Costume Party

"FREAKY FREAKY MCGEORGE" IS ON!!! McGeorge's APALSA is throwing its annual Halloween party, Exigent, on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 9:30pm. It was tons of fun last year and a great bonding experience for all! Pre-sale tickets are $15 and the door price is $20. Make sure to dress up - they're having a costume contest! 

If you are interested in purchasing pre-sales, you MUST submit $15 to me (Irene) by Monday, October 24th.

August 25: Big Sib/Lil Sib Pot Luck

We will have the Big/Lil Sib Potluck next Sunday, September 25 at 6pm (location TBD) for everyone to meet their big/lil sibs and to mingle with APALSA members.  Please bring something to contribute to the pot luck.  General members who weren't paired this year are welcome as long as they bring something.  To avoid bringing 40 bags of chips, please fill out what you're bringing in this spreadsheet:

August 30: Annual APALSA Welcome BBQ 2011

Join APALSA for our second job panel!  Asian/Pacific Bar Association (ABAS) representative Jeannie Lee and Marcel Neri will talk about general job hunting tips as well as practicing as a defense litigator in the areas of general liability, construction defects, and medical malpractice.
  
There will be time reserved for Q&A at the end of the panel.

Come grab some fresh hot coffee and a brownie or other baked good from APALSA!  Cookies, cupcakes, and other items will be available. We will be holding a bake sale in the basement to raise funds for the NABAPA convention. NAPABA has honored Judge Tani Cantil-Sakauye as a trailblazer in the past, and the UCD APALSA wants to encourage participation to show our support to the APIA community by sending as many students as possible.   Come out and show your support for APALSA and NAPABA!

Professor Ikemoto is a King Hall alum and earned her L.L.M. at Columbia. She specializes in health care law, public health law, and bioethics, with a special focus on race and gender. She currently teaches Bioethics, Reproductive Rights, Health Care Law, and Marital Property.
 
This is an awesome opportunity to get to know a professor and gain valuable insight into a specific field!

Each focused groups will be discussing tips, advice and general information about securing summer employment in particular field and general background on relevant positions & opportunities. 
 
1Ls: Please don't miss out, this is a crucial step to gaining insight to the summer employment of your dreams.  Summer will be here before you know it!
